Okay, first things first… I’m writing this blog in southeast Queensland, Australia, on Gubbi Gubbi land, and, if my page visit stats are correct, many of you will be reading this from the US. If that’s the case, hello and welcome, but you might have some questions about the language and spelling I use. So, here’s the deal:
The date format we use in Australia is DD/MM/YY. I try to remember to write the date as 22 December, but there will certainly be times when I forget and it’s 22/12/22 instead.
I use Australian spelling – which is very similar to UK spelling and, at times, quite different from US spelling. As an example, I’d write favour and labour instead of favor and labor. Also I realise something rather than realize it and analyse it rather than analyze it. I might have a favourite colour rather than a favorite color.
Grammar is a little different too, but life is too short to get into that!
